AkArelle!

The AkArelle is a 35mm viewfinder camera with interchangeable lenses, made by Apparate & Kamerabau in Germany between 1954 and 1957. It was developed from the AkArette II by the addition of a winding lever. It uses the same lenses as the AkArette II and shares all other operating features.

An unusual feature of the Akarelle (and the Akarette) is that the shutter is mounted in the front of the body behind the removable lens. Shutter is either a Prontor S or Prontor SVS and gives 8 speeds ranging from 1/300 to 1 second plus B. There is a flash socket on the side of the lens housing and an accessory shoe on the top plate. The lenses are secured in place by a rotating threaded ring. Two viewfinders give a choice between normal viewing and telephoto, early cameras having a selection of either 50mm or 75mm, later ones 50mm and 90mm. Film advance and shutter cocking are controlled by a single advance lever.
