Pentax S1 with a Soligor Wide-Auto 28mm f:2.8 lens attached.
The Asahi Pentax S1 was launched in 1961 as a compliment to the previous model. The fastest speed indicted on the shutter-speed dial is 500, although 1/1000 sec is not marked on the dial it is in fact still there, simply turn the dial past 500 and it will click into place at 1000. It was removed for marketing reasons, as was the faster 1:1.8 lens. The provision for the exposure meter was retained. The semi-automatic lens must be manually cocked to stay open and to stop down to the pre-selected aperture when the shutter is released.
