Yashica Mat with original case!

The Yashica-Mat with a Copal-MXV shutter is a classic Japanese 6x6 Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) medium format camera, first introduced around 1957–1959. It was designed to mimic the Rolleiflex, featuring a 4-element 80mm f/3.5 Yashinon taking lens and a 120 film format, offering 12 exposures per roll. It is known for its fully mechanical operation (no batteries required), a crank-operated film advance that cocks the shutter, and a quiet, reliable leaf shutter.

Specifications:

  • Shutter: Copal-MXV, typically with speeds from 1s to 1/500th, plus Bulb (B).
  • Lens: 80mm f/3.5 Yashinon taking lens, recognized for producing sharp, clear images.
  • Film Type: 120 roll film.
  • Focusing: Manual focus via a knob on the side with a waist-level finder.
  • Build: Metal and leather construction.
  • Flash Sync: Features M, X, and V (self-timer) settings.
  • Variants: Often confused with or similar to the Yashica-Mat LM (which added an uncoupled light meter).
