Chinon 407 XL Direct Sound with wrist strap!
The Chinon 407 XL Direct Sound released in 1977, supports both sound and silent film in cartridge format. It features a Chinon Reflex Zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.7 and a focal length range of 8–32mm, offering a 4x zoom ratio. Focusing is manual with a microprism system, and zooming can be operated manually or automatically. The single-lens reflex viewfinder includes an adjustable eyepiece. Exposure is controlled automatically through a TTL system using a CdS cell, with a backlight control button for additional lighting conditions. Film speed is set automatically for 25/40 and 100/160 ASA (daylight/tungsten). It includes a built-in 85A color correction filter, which is removable when using a movie light. The camera records at 18 frames per second with a 220-degree shutter angle. Sound is recorded on Super 8 film via magnetic stripe, using automatic level control with High and Low settings. Inputs and outputs include microphone and monitor sockets, a cue light, and a remote control socket.
