The Contax TLA140 is a compact, shoe-mount electronic flash originally designed for the Contax G-series (G1 and G2) rangefinder cameras. It features a titanium-silver finish that matches the G-series bodies and provides Through-The-Lens (TTL) automatic exposure control when used with compatible Contax cameras.

- Angle of Coverage: Covers the field of view of a 28mm lens.
- Recycle Time: Approximately 4.8 seconds with a fresh battery.
- Power Source: Uses one 3V CR123A lithium battery; Ni-Cd or rechargeable batteries are not recommended.
- Dimensions & Weight: Measures approximately 57 x 73 x 22 mm and weighs roughly 80g to 99g with the battery.
- Contax G System: Offers full Auto TTL flash functionality, allowing the camera to automatically control flash output.
- Contax SLR Bodies: It is generally compatible with other Contax bodies (like the RTS III, ST, RX, AX), but may operate only in manual mode on certain older models like the 137MA or 139 Quartz.
- Non-Contax Cameras: It can fire on any standard hot shoe but will only operate in manual mode. Users must manually set the aperture based on the subject distance using the guide chart on the back of the unit.
- Design Advantage: Some photographers prefer the TLA140 over the larger TLA200 because its flash tube sits higher above the lens, which can help reduce "red-eye" in subjects.
