The Ricoh Auto 35 is a series of compact, fixed-lens 35mm film cameras known for their stylish 1960s Japanese design and user-friendly features. The original Auto 35 is a simple viewfinder camera with an automatic exposure system powered by a selenium meter.

- Focusing: Fixed-focus, meaning it is set to provide sharpness from about 2.5 meters (8 feet) to infinity.
- Lens: Riken Ricoh 40mm f/2.8 lens, with 3 elements in 3 groups.
- Metering: A selenium photocell controls the automatic exposure, with the user only needing to set the film speed. An indicator in the viewfinder warns of underexposure.
