The Zenza Bronica EC features a highly regarded 6x6 modular film back system. Designed with safety in mind, it utilises a fail-safe interlocking dark slide mechanism, preventing you from accidentally removing the back mid-roll. It allows for rapid, mid-roll film switching and supports both 120 and 220 film
Key Features of the Bronica EC Back:
- Mid-Roll Swapping: Thanks to the captive dark slide, you can safely remove the film back in the middle of a roll and swap it with another back (e.g., switching from colour to black and white) without losing a single frame.
- Foolproof Interlocks: The back is attached using a squeeze-release system. It physically prevents you from removing the back unless the dark slide is fully inserted, and it won't let you fire the shutter while the dark slide is covering the film.
- Film Formats: While the system is primarily built for 6 × 6 square format exposures, the camera back and inserts accommodate 120 (12 exposures) and 220 (24 exposures) roll films.
- Double Exposures: The EC film back includes a handy multi-exposure dial. By simply twisting the dial to "D," you can cock and fire the shutter multiple times on the exact same frame without the film advancing
